| 27 Kg Bhukki worth Rs 3.50 cr recovered from oil tankers | | | Kathua | Apr 5 Continuing its drive against drug peddlers in Kathua, district police achieved another success today during wee hours, when six persons namely Nirph Singh son of Beant Singh resident of Jagroan, Ludhiana, driver of H P gas tanker No. HR-37-B 1816, Baljeet Singh S/o Inder Singh R/o Jagroa Ludhiana Cleaner of Tanker No. 1816, Lakshman Singh S/o Darbara singh R/o Jagroa Ludhiana Driver of H.P. Gas Tanker No. HR-38-F 7013, Narotam Singh S/o Janak Singh R/o Kallar (Rajouri) cleaner of Tanker No. 7017, Amrik Singh S/o Surjan Singh R/o District Moga (Punjab) Driver of Tanker No. HR-38-L 3416 and Raman Mishra S/o Ram Sagar Mishra R/o Mehmood Pur Bairelly (U.P.) cleaner of H.P. tanker No. 3416 were taken into custody. During course of search police recovered 27 Kgs of popystraw (Bhukki) which was secretly hidden in the specially designed spaces and either side of radiator of the engine of tankers. The consignment was procured from Pampore area of District Pulwama (Kashmir) and smuggled to certain areas in Delhi and Haryana states. The consignment was seized during the search which was laid under the command of Khalil Ahmed Poswal Dy SP HQRS, Kathua in this regard. A case under FIR No. 89/07 u/s 8115 NDPS Act has been registered in P/S Kathua and further investigation of the case is going on. It is to mention here Kathua police has launched campaign against drug peddlers in the district and succeeded in recovery of intoxicating drugs worth Rs 3.50 crores.
