| Troopers in Kashmir to get lesson on AIDS | | |
Jammu, April 07 After seeking help of religious leaders for spreading the education of killer disease AIDS, the Jammu and Kashmir AIDS prevention society plan to educate the security forces for prevention and control of the disease.
This comes fore when the state AIDS Prevention control society organized a seminar wherein more then 500 CRPF Jawans were briefed about the causes and prevention of the disease.
Charan Dass constable in CRPF and resident of Punjab is particular about awareness among the Jawans of this killer disease.
AIDS prevention society of J&K is training them for this mission; in this regard a seminar was organized wherein the Jawans of CRPF were invited to attend. Minister for Health Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma was the chief guest of the occasion.
"We are starting a project in which security personnel will not only be trained but we will conduct seminars where complete awareness about AIDS will be imparted to all the members of this particular society," Dr Mohammed Amin Wani, Project director J&K AIDS Society told News Agency of Kashmir, adding it is not only Charan Dass that the AIDS society is planning to educate him but we will reach to every corner of the state.
The society has trained almost all religious leaders and other prominent NGO’s and now are moving to this particular group whom they feel needed to be educated.
According to sources, there are number of HIV positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which more than forty people have died due to this killer AIDS.
"Jawans of all battalions will be directly or indirectly educated as they keep on moving from one region to another” said another official of Health Department, adding, If we spread awareness about AIDS through these Jawans, I believe people can easily learn fast about the evils of this disease.
