| Congress not averse to talk militants if they shun guns: Vakil | | | Jammu, March 7,2007 – Senior JKPCC Vice President and MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil said on Saturday that his party is not against involvement of militant groups in dialogue process however, shunning of gun is pre-requisite for the same. Addressing a largely attended public gathering at Chandanghare, Sonawari in North Kashmir, Mr. Vakil said that for discussing issues gun wealding face has to be transformed into open and civil face. “Today nobody knows who represents whom in the militant groups”. Mr. Vakil said that issues relating to Jammu and Kashmir are waxed and while addressing these aspirations of the people from all the three regions have to be accounted for. He asked the Hurriyat Conference to understand these ground realities and carry forward the dialogue process. He said “no single party is in a position to solve the issues individual and if any group makes people to believe this it is only be-fooling them”. He beseeched upon political and other groups to sincerely strive for addressing the issues and be part of a joint strategy in this regard. Mr. Vakil hailed Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad’s historic steps and policies set in place in the state to achieve twin objectives of creating peace and carrying forward development. He said Mr. Azad’s high profile people friendly decisions have further catapulted his image in the state making him man of the masses. “Unfortunately some are scare of his popularity and are out to raise insignificant issues to divert the attention of people from the revolutionary schemes launched by Mr. Azad”, Vakil added. He said Jammu and Kashmir state is at present on cross road of development and political transformation and added that sincerity and consensus approach is must to settle all issues once for all.
