4/7/2007 11:35:49 PM

Jammu, April 07
To protect Pargwal area from the threat of flash floods during the rainy season, this year the Government has taken advance measures for construction of flood channels over river chenab. An amount of Rs. 8 crore has been spent on various protection works in the Pargwal.
This was stated by Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mr.Tara Chand at a largely attended public meeting at village Pargwal in Khour block today.
He said that the Government is aware of the problems of the rural areas and efforts are afoot to redress these. He apprised that during the last four year the Khour block has seen massive development in all essential sectors. Education, Power, Health and road sectors have received special attention of the Government, he maintained.
While lauding the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Speaker said that under his dynamic leadership State has seen new heights of development, peace and prosperity. He appreciated the bold and courageous decisions like passing of Roshni Bill, creation of new districts, tehsils and Finance Commission. “These decisions are hallmarks in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and people would remember these for decades to come”, he added.
On the issue of employment to youth, Mr. Tara Chand said that though the government has been making all out efforts to generate maximum number of government jobs, yet it is not possible for all. During the last four years, a large number of youth have been absorbed in Rehber-e-Taleem and SSA schemes. However, he appealed the youth to follow other options like setting up of their own income generating units as per the viability of local areas for which the banks are liberally assisting. He also appealed the parents of youth to encourage their wards for taking benefits of various schemes launched by the Government.
Various deputations called on the Speaker and put forth several demands including opening of High School for girls, construction of a bridge over chanab at Indri Pattan linking Pargwal with Khour etc.
Speaker gave patient hearing to the deputationists and assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled at the earliest.
MLA Akhnoor, Mr.Sham Lal Sharma, MLC Mr. Rajinder Singh Chib, senior Congress leader Thakur Balwan Singh, Mr. Shamsher Singh, Thakur Puran Singh and others also addressed the gathering.
