| 59th Board of Directors meet of SFC | | Devise and follow a transparent distribution policy, Qazi asks SFC | |
Jammu, April 07 To fulfill the long pending demands of the employees and reactivation of the operational functioning of the State Forest Corporation according to its full capacity, the Board of Directors convened 59th Board of Directors meeting here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Forests, Environment, Housing and Urban Development Qazi Mohammad Afzal, who is also Chairman of the Board. During the deliberations of the meet, the Board of Directors agreed to various decisions concerning to the functioning of the corporation which include regularization of promotions, diversification of plan with respect to non timber forest policy (NTFP) and adoption of revised T.A rules etc. The Board also approved 2 more fare price timber sale divisions for Rajouri and Ganderbal districts in addition to existing four such divisions raising the number to six. While addressing the meet Qazi Afzal said that it is worth to note that corporation has achieved its target beyond the limits fixed yet. He stressed the need for reactivating the operational functioning of the corporation to its full capacity so that corporation can also cater to the requirements of the people judiciously. He asked the management of SFC to devise and follow a transparent and impartial distribution policy in meeting out the demands of the consumers. He said that due to growing needs of the people the corporation would have to be more consumer friendly and make the targets achieved properly so that inconvenience at any level does not come in the way of the functioning of the SFC. He said that extraction, transportation, stocking and distribution of the timber should be as per of the requirements of the consumers. Qazi Afzal underscored the need for making a vibrant and more profitable corporation besides fulfilling the needs of the consumers. He also called for a close coordination among various functionaries of the corporation for improving its functioning adding that the smuggling of the timber must be curbed completely. He also sought people’s cooperation in eliminating the menace of timber smuggling which has not only damaged the forests but have very adverse repercussions on environment and the economy of the state. Addressing the meeting, Minister of State for Forests, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that owing to high graph of construction works in the state, the demand for timber has increased manifold. He said to meet out the growing demands of consumers the State Forest Corporation has to be more resourceful and promising adding that this is possible by following a comprehensive policy for extraction and distribution of timber. Among others, Member legislative Council Mrs. Firda Mir, Commissioner and Secretary, Forests Mr. Attal Dullo, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Irshad Ahmad Khan, Managing Director, State Forest Corporation Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. A. R. Wani, Retired MD, SFC Mr. P. M. Pandita, Retired MD, SFC Mr. Zadoo and representatives of Finance and Planning Department and other senior officers of the State Forest Corporation attended the meeting.
