| Demonstration held against cold drinks | | | Jammu / Aug 4
A demonstration was held by scores of people against the open sale of cold drinks in the State despite, of it being declared as unsafe for consumption by reputed laboratories of India at New Plot here today. Women and children also participated in the demonstration in large number. BJP State General Secretary, Sunil Dimple was leading the demonstration.
Demonstrators were demanding blanket ban over the sale of cold drinks in the entire state. To register their protest, demonstrators were carrying placards with the slogans against the sale of cold drinks. They shouted slogans and destroyed the bottles of cold drinks on the roads. Vehicular movement was also disrupted by the demonstrators on this ever busy road. On the occasion, all the demonstrators pledged not to consume cold drinks.
Addressing the demonstrators, Dimple alleged that Government is deliberately backing these cold drink multinationals, despite knowing the fact that its consumption can ruin the health of the people. He urged Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad to immediately declare a ban on its sale in the state otherwise, people would come on to the roads to stop its sale.
