Senior assistant, store keeper in vigilance net

State Vigilance Organization today caught a senior Assistant and a Store Keeper red handed while accepting bribe.
A Vigilance reports that one Abdul Hamid Malik, Senior Assistant in the office of Block Medical Officer Budgam was caught red handed while accepting Rs.500 as bribe for engagement of a sweeper.
In another operation, a Storekeeper of the office of Assistant Director Handicrafts Baramulla, namely Mohammed Ashraf Peer, was arrested for accepting Rs.6000 as bribe from a land lord for release of his rentals.
The report said Ghulam Nabi Sheikh s/o Reshi Sheikh r/o Mazhama, Beerwah lodged a written report with Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir alleging therein that Abdul Hamid Malik Senior Assistant in the office of Block Medical Officer Budgam is demanding Rs.500 as illegal gratification for engaging his son Farooq Ahmad Sheikh as Sweeper in the BMO’s office. Case FIR No. 24/2007 U/S 5 (2) PC Act 2006 r/w 161 RPC was registered and investigation taken up. In the course of investigation, the officials of SVO laid a successful trap during which the said Senior Assistant Abdul Hamid Malik, was caught red handed, while accepting bribe of Rs.500 from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from him in presence of independent witnesses. His hand wash tested positive. He was taken into custody for further investigation.
The report said that other case was registered on the complaint of one Fayaz Ahmad Shah r/o Dangiwacha, Sopore alleging therein that accused Mohammed Ashraf Peer, Store Keeper of Asstt Director, Handicrafts Baramulla (under transfer) demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.7000 for release of rent arrears amounting to Rs.70,000 for himself and for the Assistant Director Handicrafts Baramulla. After registration of Case FIR No. 25/2007 U/s 5 (2) PC Act r/w 161 RPC, SVO officials proceeded to Baramulla for investigation, during which they laid a successful trap and caught red handed Mohammed Ashraf Peer, Storekeeper while receiving Rs.7000 as illegal gratification from the complainant, of which he returned Rs.1000 to the complainant and Rs 6000 to his successor Farooq Ahmad Sofi who was sitting nearby. The SVO Officials recovered the tainted money and the accused Mohd Ashraf, Store Keeper was taken into custody for further investigation.
