| BSF Jawan dies of AIDS in SKIMS | | | Srinagar, April 11 Ahead of the plans of state AIDS prevention society to educate the security forces about the precautions to be taken against HIV, a Border Security Jawan suffering from AIDS breathed his last at the Sheri-e Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences other day.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that BSF Jawan of 132 Battalion posted at Bandipora was admitted in the hospital early this month was diagnosed positive for AIDS. He was admitted under MRD no. 458980. The deceased Jawan identified as Kewal Krishan died late in the evening at 10 pm. It is pertinent to mention here that the security forces including Army are counted among the ‘high risk groups’ for HIV.
Considering the urgency, state AIDS Prevention control society has been regularly organizing seminars to educate armed forces about the prevention of the disease. The society is now planning to start a regular programme to educate security forces about the disease. |
