| Romesh for avoiding dumping of Garbage in canals | | | Jammu, April 11 Minister of state for public Health engineering, Industries and commerce today inspected various on going works in Jammu city and seek cooperation of farmers for keeping the canals clean to avoid accumulation of garbage and silt.
The areas visited by the minister include Ranbir canal, pratab canal, Satwari, Digiana Sanjay Nagar and janipora.
Interacting with the people in Minister asked people to refrain from dumping of polythenes and other garbage in the canals to avoid blocked of flow of water. He said blocking of canals due to dumping of garbage hinders the flow of water which creates problem for those living at the tail end.
He said keeping of these canals clean in also necessary for maintaining clean environment. He said due to the pollution and garbage dumping there is every possibility of spread of water borne diseases
Minister said that disilting of canals would be done at regular intervals for maintain the flow water upto the tail end. He directed the officers of Irrigation accompanying him to keep a close watch on the canals so that farmers may not face any inconvenience.
Minister who was accompanied by the engineers of PHE and Irrigation later visited janipora where people of the area met and apprise about scarcity of water. Minister assured them that the area would get adequate supply of drinking water.
Superintending Engineer Mechanical V K Puri and S E Hydraulic Ashok Gupta besides Tej Pandita and Varinder Badyal both executive engineers of irrigation also accompanied the minister. |
