| NMC demands amendment in ban on daily wagers' regularization | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 26:President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today demanded that the government order imposing a ban on the regularization of daily wagers be amended, emphasizing the need to adopt a comprehensive policy to give permanent jobs to casual labourers employed in various departments of the state Government till March 2014. Shastri said such an amendment should be effected on May 1, the International Labour day, so that the new regularization policy could become operational from June 1, as a gift to the working class. Addressing a workers' rally at Bari Brahmana, he appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Finance Minister A R Rather to sympathetically consider the demand of the working class. Pleading the cause of daily rated workers working in the various departments, Shastri urged upon the State Government to ensure, the release of all pending dues of casual labour working in PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PHE, PDD and other departments of the State Govt. before May Day so that working class could get a sigh of relief. Release of 10% DA due from January last and 4th installment of the 6th pay commission arrears, declare May Day as National Holiday, immediate issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in the Rural Development Department, enhancement in Medical allowance to rupee one thousand per month and strict implementation of C.P. Fund scheme. |
