Jammu gets breather following on 'Darbar Move'

Jammu, Apr 26: With closing of move offices on Monday, Jammuites wil get a breather from the VIP movement, traffic jams. During the last six months, traffic was made to stop on many occasions in a single day at major crossing in the city due to VIP movement. Cavalcade of Ministers, officials and other local representatives can be seen moving around all the major routes of city, causing many traffic disruptions to already congested Jammu city.
People using Shalimar and other areas now can also use the road in front of Civil Secretariat, which closes for these six months. Also now there would be less rush in local mini-buses due to shifting of employees and their families to Srinagar.
Now the hustling and busting in Jammu would be returned to normal levels. Also in the coming days there would be much less political activities with the focus now be shifted to Srinagar. Local administrations along with police authorities will breathe a sigh of relief as they were on their toes as the government machinery was stationed in Jammu for the last six months.
In last six months, in order to draw the attention of government towards their issues, various organizations political as well non-political were involved in protests in Jammu, whether they were agricultural technocrats demanding regularization, refugees from various parts of J&K, employees of public as well as private sector and other such organizations. It caused huge inconnivence to general public.
A resident of Moti Bazar, Rajinder sharma said, "Due to Secretariat in Jammu, I face everyday problem due to passing of VIP movement also due to paucity of parking space nearby my residence, I had to park my vehicle far away from my home. Now I will not face such type of problem".
A commuter Ramesh Kumar working with MNC at Bahu Plaza who uses, Talab-Tillo Jewel route to reach his work place appeared pleased with the darbar move to valley stated, "It took me around an hour to cover the distance due to huge Jams. Now there would be lot less traffic, I will be reaching on time in my office".
In the Last few heavy rush was witnessed in city markets as the families of the move employees were involved in the last minute shopping.
"In these six months upsurge in business activity is seen, as shopkeepers of city registered increase in their sales. Many move employees have become our regular customers. Now we eagerly wait for their return after six months", apprised Sahil Malhotra Vice President Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association.
"We do meager business in summer months, but as soon as Secretariat opens in Jammu in winters our sales increase manifolds. Our outlets generates maximum business in these months", asserted owner of Nescafe Shop outside Secretariat.
Though the bi-annual 'darbar move' is a peculiar arrangement only occurs in J&K, but after so many years it has become a part and parcel to the people of the both regions of state.
