Sikh orgs condemn disrespect of turban, torture of Sikh youth
4/26/2014 11:45:14 PM
Jammu, Apr 26: Various Sikh organizations today jointly condemned the torture of a Sikh youth with the shameful treatment meted out on him by disrespecting his turban by the police department. The Sikh organizations including Shrimoni Akahli Dal, Sikh Intellectuals Circle, Sikh Students Federation, Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Council, Khalsa Pantnic Morcha, Sikh Welfare Front and Sikh Progressive Front today alleged that police tortured Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, a law graduate at police station Narwal and Trikuta Nagar.
In a joint statement issued here today, Sikh leader Mohinder Singh said that the police arbitrarily slapped PSA on the youth on baseless and flimsy ground. "It has badly hurt the religious sentiments of Sikh community, which believes in peace and justice and values human rights of the entire citizen," he stated.
He further claimed that Ranjodh Singh was earlier implicated in a murder case by his partner under the conspiracy hatched by one so called disgruntled Sikh leader and one former Police officer who had recently joined a national level political party to save himself from inquiry into extra constitutional killings at Chittisingh Pura and Pathribal in Kashmir.
"Ranjodh Singh faced trial in the said murder case and ultimately the justice prevailed and he earned an acquittal. After his release when Ranjodh Singh asked his partner to render the accounts of the business at fruit Mandi of last four years, he was arrested by SHO's Narwal on flimsy grounds. Unfortunately the turban of Ranjodh Singh was removed by concerned authority of police and was brutally tourchered with third degree methods in presence of his partner and was compelled that he has no concern in the business," said Mohinder Singh.
"After this brutal torture CJM Jammu constituted the medical board and court also granted in the bail. After this relief from the court concerned police authorities compelled Ranjodh Singh Nalwa to withdraw the application against police in court and also threatened him with dire consequence of fake encounter and PSA," he added.
