| Muradpur villagers hold protest, demand restoration of water supply | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Apr 26 : Inhabitants of Muradpur village situated on both sides of Jammu-Poonch highway in the vicinity of Rajouri city have threatened to block the highway if the water supply was not restored in their village within next few days. Villagers under the leadership of Babu Ram Srpanch also held protest in front of the office of Executive Engineer, PHE on Friday and warned the officials to mend their ways and restore the water supply which was closed few months back due to faulty motors and broken pipes. Villagers also alleged that nobody from the department bother to repair the broken and leaked pipes and the people suffering a lot due to no supply of drinking water. "Our women and children are forced to fetch water from natural sources of water after covering a distance between 3-4 kilometers and the ensuing summer season has also added more difficulties" said Babu Ram. Similar problems were also being faced by the inhabitants of Noushera town. Rakesh Kumar and Mohan Lal said that the PHE department on hand has failed to provide regular supply of safe drinking water to the inhabitants while on the other hand thousands liters of water being leaked from the damaged overhead water tank of the department. NK Gupta , AEE while talking to reporters said that soon the tank will be repaired and regular supply will be restored to people. |
