| 9 kgs of Charas seized, one held | | | Samba, Apr 26: In continuation to drive against narcotic and drug peddlers, Police today apprehended a narcotics smuggler besides effecting a recovery of atleast nine kgs of contraband from his possession. The accused was sent on four days remand to carry out further investigation.
"The narcotic smuggler has been identified as Jahangir Ahmed Dar s/o Manzoor Ahmed Dar r/o Dogripura Tehsil Awantipora, Pulwama, police said.
Police spokesperson said that following a specific input, a special naka was raised and during checking at Mansar naka team arrested one person carrying contraband i.e. Charas in a truck bearing registration No JK03B-4215. "The consignment was reportedly to be delivered from Kashmir to Punjab, police said.
The accused was booked under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and case has been registered at Police Station Samba. Police said that the accused was produced before the Executive Magistrate, Class 1st and Police remand for 04 days has been obtained to carry out further investigation. |
