| Haji Nissar distributes cheques among beneficiaries in Suchetgarh | | | Jammu, April 12 Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali today distributed cheques to atleast 532 beneficiaries under various centrally and state sponsored schemes at Baspur Bangla village in Suchetgarh area of R. S. Pura. Local MLA Mr. Gharu Ram also participated in the function. Under old age pension scheme atleast 250 beneficiaries were given cheques each valueing Rs. 1200 and atleast 237 widows were benefitted by being provided with cheques valuing Rs. 800 each. Also 45 beneficiaries received cheques under National Employment Benefit Scheme. Haji Nissar on the occasion said that during last year 1,20,000 pending pension cases were cleared and an amount of Rs.40 crore was disbursed to beneficiaries. While expressing satisfaction the Minister said that the pension for widows is likely to be enhanced from Rs. 200 to Rs. 325 and for physically disabled persons to Rs. 600 from Rs. 300 shortly. He also said that more and more social welfare blocks will be created in the area to cater to the requirements of people. Mr. Gharu Ram while appreciating the department of Social Welfare for extending maximum benefits to the deserving people said that there still remains a scope for further improvement and more so for people living on border areas.
