| BJP holds protest demonstration against shortage of water | | | Jammu April 12 A large number of BJP activists, led by Jammu District President, Kavinder Gupta, today held a protest demonstration and blocked road at Old Janipur against scarcity of drinking water in the area. The women participants were carrying empty buckets and earthen pots, besides placards in their hands. Addressing the demonstrators, Gupta accused Congress led coalition government for its total failure to ensure regular supply of drinking water to the people of Janipur and other areas of Jammu city. He said how funny it is that the State Government is organizing Jammu Mahotsav when the people are suffering for want of water with no body to listening to their problems. He also criticized the government for not undertaking repair work at the Shitli filtration plant, which was damaged in last year’s floods during the monsoon and demanded immediate measures to maintain regular supply of drinking water across Jammu city, besides making the filtration plant operational without further delay. Among others, who took part in the 2-hour demonstration organized by the Janipur Mandal, were Mohan Lal Sharma, Vinod Gupta, Subash Sharma, Rakesh Gupta, Party councilors, Ravinder Gupta, Sureshta Jamwal, Blawan Singh, Chander Mohan Gupta and Dinesh Gupta.
