| WWF-India organizes workshop | | | Jammu April 12
World Wide Fund for Nature India and Union Ministry of Environment and Forestry today organized training-cum-awareness workshop on ‘Solid waste management’ at Department of Environmental sciences Jammu University for the participating NGOs and educational institutions of Jammu district.
Madan Lal Sharma, Member Parliament was the chief guest on the occasion while PP Sharma retired PCCF presided and the renowned Journalist S P Sahni was the guest of honour.
In his welcome address Hony Director WWF India, J&K revealed that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has sanctioned awareness and action proposals in favour of 115 participants comprising NGOs and educational institutions in all the districts of Jammu region.
Shashi Kant presented key note address on managing the solid waste and its effects on health and hygiene of civil society and suggested new technologies to recycle and reuse the garbage and municipal waste in the cities and towns.
On this occasion, Madan Lal Sharma presented lift time achievement award to Prof Shashi Kant for his contribution in the field of Nature and environment conservation and WWF-India.
