Heat makes scorching debut in North, Delhi touches 42 °C

New Delhi, Apr 30: The entire Northern region witnessed an early onslaught of heat wave as temperature in most areas soared past 40 degree Celsius with the national capital recording season's highest at 42.1 deg C.
Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded maximum of 45.6 deg C today.
In Delhi, the maximum temperature was three notches above the normal level with weatherman predicting further rise in temperature in the next few days.
According to the Meteorological department, the minimum temperature was 22.8 deg C.
Humidity level was recorded between 18 and 60 percent.
In Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan also temperature breached the 40 degree C mark at most places. Lucknow recorded maximum at 42.1 deg C while in Jaipur mercury touched 43 deg C. In Rajasthan, Ganganagar recorded 45.6 deg C today while Churu and Bikaner sizzled at 45.3 and 44.5 deg C respectively.
Barmer, Kota, Bikaner and Jaipur recorded maximum of 44.8, 44.6, 44.5 and 43.9 deg C, according to Met department.
Primary and middle schools in Jaipur district have been ordered to run classes only during morning hours for classes I to VIII from May 1. Blistering heat wave swept Haryana and Punjab with Hisar turning out to be the hottest place at 44 deg C.
Today, most places across the two states, besides Chandigarh recorded the season's hottest day so far, as mercury hovered few notches above normal levels. Residents of Chandigarh also braved a hot day at 41.4 deg C, up four notches.

In Ahmedabad the temperature was recorded 42.9 deg C while in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal mercury touched 41.5 deg C.
