Chairman CPPWU booked by police

Kishtwar, Apr 30: Demanding jobs for the local unemployed youth of Kishtwar District and its adjoining areas in 850 MW Rattle Hydro Electrical Power Project, Chairman Chinar Power Project Workers Union (CPPWU) Joginder Bhandari along with other office bearers were booked by police at the behest of GVK and L&T management.
According to reports, the management of GVK ltd. and L & T that both the companies, agreed a few months ago to provide jobs to local youths in Rattle power project that led suspension of chain hunger strike by CPPWU, both GVK & L & T management backtrack from its promises.
As soon as the Joghinder Bhandari who has threaten to launch an agitation against both the companies engaged in the project work over the issue of denial of job to local aspirants, in charge police post Drabshala Sub Inspector Nayeem Mattoo along with heavy contingent of police rush to the spot yesterday and detained the CPPWU leaders. All of the detain leaders including Chairman CPPWU were lodged in Kishtwar police station lock up and spend their night in police station after police book them U/S 107/151 Cr.Pc and produce the challen in the court of 1st class magistrate (Tehsildar Kishtwar) from where all the detained leaders were released after completion of all the legal formalities. The detained leaders while entering inside the police station Kishtwar were raising slogans demanding jobs for locals. They allege that GVK and L&T management are using police to muzzle the voice of unemployed youths of the District. They threaten to intensify the agitation in case the local youths were denied jobs in the power project.
