| HC directed SSP Jammu to depute DySP for probe | | Petition seeking SIT to trace missing wife, two minor children | | JAMMU, APRIL 12 Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court Jammu wing in a writ petition filed by one Mohinder Pal Singh seeking constitution of a Special Investigating Team to probe mysterious disappearance of his wife and two minor children who are not traceable since October 2006, after hearing Additional Advocate General BS Salathia and Deputy Advocate General Vinod Bakshi appearing for the respondent and Advocate SS Ahmed appearing for the petitioner directed SSP, Jammu to depute an officer of the rank of Dy SP to get the matter probed without any further loss of time. Court further directed SSP Jammu to monitor the probe and file the status report within a period of six weeks. Justice J P Singh, while, directing SSP Jammu observed that disappearance of petitioner’s wife and his minor children needs a through probe in the matter and Mr. Bakshi Dy AG appeared for the Advocate General was directed on March 7, 2007 to file a detailed report regarding the whereabouts of the petitioner’s wife and their two minor children. BS Salathia, AAG appearing for the respondents submitted that SHO P/S Gandhi Nagar Jammu had gone through the complaint of the petitioner and after getting information from various persons, he was informed that petitioner’s wife had gone to meet her children at “First Step School”, Trikuta Nagar and thereafter neither she nor her children had came back to the petitioner’s house. SHO, Gandhi-Nagar, expressed his inability to go further in the investigation of disappearance of petitioner’s wife and children because the offence according to him appeared to have been committed within the jurisdiction of police station Trikuta Nagar, upon this Court directed SSP to depute a DySP for probe.
