| People of Nagsini deprived of basic amenities: Siddiqui | | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Apr 30:President, Public Awareness Front (PAF), Kishtwar Shakir Siddiqui today accused the government of their failure in providing basic amenities to the people living in remote Nagsini area of the District. Shakir Siddiqui who alongwith other members of the front visited Kwar area of Kishtwar district and took stock of the condition and other issues of the area. He was briefed by people regarding various hardships and problems faced by them. The people of the area informed the front that they had suffered huge losses to their crops and fruits due to off-season rains. They said that the government has been watching as a mute spectator and has not come forward for granting any compensation to the sufferers. The people complaint that houses of people have also suffered damages, added that no revenue official has visited these areas to access the losses. People complained that ration depots of CAPD are empty. "The people were not supplied flour/wheat during the month of March while rice and sugar has not been made available to consumers for the month of April," said Siddiqui. "People who were given jobs in MGNREGA have not been paid for the works which they have completed using their own money. This had made them poorer and the very basic purpose of MGNREGA has become meaningless" said Siddiqui. He urged upon the concerned officers to make early payments to the people for their allotted work under MGNREGA by Rural Development Department. |
