| Katra hoteliers resent new electric meters | | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Apr 12 A deputation of Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra met local electric department of officers and showed their resentment on the threat to cut electric connections in case trivector meters costing more than 75,000/- are not installed at the cost of hoteliers within 15 days. The deputation led by its President Shyam Lal Kesar said that electric department first ordered for specified meters to be installed in the hotels, then they directed hotel members to put the meter boxes which they installed outside the hotel buildings. Later on there were more fresh orders for specified kind of electronic meter to be immediately installed in hotel premises which members complied all at their own costs, fully cooperating with the department. The result of the humble submission to every order was that H.T. Trivector meter be installed within 15 days otherwise electric connection would be cut off. This notice, they said is to harass hotel owners at a time when the yatra season is picking up in the area. Installation of such meters which costs nearly 75,000/- rupees is not feasible to install. The association strongly condemned the attitude of the department for not fulfilling their earlier commitments of providing curtailment free electricity and power at par with industrial rate as even announced by the then Finance Minister, Muzzafar Hussain Being in his budget speech. He further said that the penalty whatever is being imposed for not installing trivector meter be withdrawn immediately. The deputation comprised Babu Ram Dubey, Chairman, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Rakesh Wazir, Sr. Vice President, Kewal Krishan Padha, Madan Lal Verma, Vice President Municipal Committee Katra, Nishant Sharma, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Anil Sharma, Mattoo, and Raina.
