| LMD books 17 traders, realizes Rs 16000 as fine | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, May 8: A team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) under the supervision of the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Reasi Kuldeep Raj and comprising of the Inspector Legal Metrology Kuldeep Raj conducted surprise checking of various business establishments on Katra-Reasi road and realized a fine of Rs 16000 from 17 erring traders violation of various of J&K Weights and Measures(Enforcement) Act and Rules.
The team also booked two Auto rickshaw drivers and its owners for overcharging the Pilgrims. Owners of the Auto rickshaws were directed to attend the office of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology for further legal action.
Further, the traders were directed to use the verified weights and measures besides displaying MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Consumer Care Number on the commodities to be sold in packaged form.
The Department also warned the unscrupulous traders to desist away from unfair trade practices to cheat the innocent Consumers and also appealed to the Consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities. |
