JAMMU, May 8: Police today foiled two bovine smuggling bids at different places in Jammu city by rescuing as many as 121 bovine animals and arresting eight smugglers. Police spokesman said that a party headed by SDPO East Rafiq Manhas, SHO Bagh - e - Bahu SI Sunil Sharma, SHO Channi Himmat, Ajaz Ahmed, in-charge Sainik Colony, Shushil Choudhary and in-charge police post, Narwal Nayat Ali under the supervision of SSP Atul Goel and SP South Rahul Malik seized five trucks bearing registration number JKO5C-1004, JK03C-0863, HR58-2377, JKO2AT-83215 and JKO2AJ-4071 and arrested six persons. The arrested persons have been identified as Bilal Ahmed of Rafiabad of Baramulla, Arshad Ahmed of Baramulla, Mudaser Ahmed of Nowpura Kulgam, Mohammad Ghudu of Marallain RS Pura, Saif Ali of RS Pura and Mukhtyar Ahmd of Potha Surnkote. While four persons managed to escape from the spot, 87 bovine animals rescued from the trucks. Cases in this regard have been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu and Channi Himmat for further investigation. Meanwhile, Police foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 34 bovines at Gadigarh area, last night. Police spokesman said that on specific information in-charge police post Gadigarh, SI Khyati Maan Khajuria under the supervision of SHO Satwari, Inspector Suhail, SDPO South Harjeet Singh, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Atul Goel raised a naka at Gadigarh and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK02AQ-6397 and JK02BE-2209 with a total of 34 bovines. Police said that both the drivers namely Abdul Hamid of Basht Chenani and Bashir Ahmed of Samba Madera arrested on the spot. Police that a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation is going on. |
