Jammu, May 8: Following the initiative from Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar in much hyped Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) ration embezzlement in Mendhar, in a latest development the CAPD Department senior officials taking cognizance in this regard had sought details from Police in this regard for disciplinary action against the accused persons. For inept the 'Early Times' in its edition dtd May 3 has come up with an expose under the heading 'Govt Ration shocker: SPO of NC leader and MLC siphons CAPD ration in Mendhar' made startling revelations how SPO engaged with MLC and senior NC leader was involved in looting government ration in huge quantity. The issue has rocked the sleepy town of Mendhar with Police allegedly adopting a dilly dallying tactics to appease inferential people forcing people to protest and compelling Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar Romesh Kumar to order a probe on the next day, in this regard and asked concerned Food and Supply Department officials to put records to his table. Locals also have apprised SDM Mendhar that one person was caught red handed while unloading the government ration from government vehicle i.e. a Police Gypsy out side the residence of SPO Nazir Ahmed but was not detained by the police for questioning . According to sources from Poonch, in a latest development today the Joint Director CAPD Department Manmohan Singh along with Assistant Director Mukhlis Choudary held a meeting of district officials of department wherein they expressed serious concerns over the pilferage of government ration meant for particular economic section and also didn't rule out possibilities of black moles within department who in connivance with black marketers are indulged in mal practices, Sources also said that while talking to media persons, Assistant Director Mukhlis Choudary said that Storekeeper Food and Supply Department Mohd Hafiz can't do anything at his own and there are possibilities that he had got orders from his seniors even including Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Mendhar Abdul Khaliq or other but this is pre mature to comment right now. Giving details, Choudary also stated that he had talked to SDPO Mendhar in this regard who told that police has registered a case in this regard.He also asked them to furnish the records and details of the ration stored at different rented shops (if any) so as to bring transparency in the ration supply system in Mendhar. Meanwhile sources said that after locals raised the issue of pilferage of government ration the police have registered a case against FIR 55 u/s 409 RPC but locals have alleged it is sitting on the case reasons better known to the concerned police officials
