| `PDP workers should prepare for a bigger role' | | J&K's future full of opportunities, challenges: Sayeed | | Srinagar, April 16 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that time has come when the people of the State must embark together in the common quest for dignity, peace and prosperity. "The peace process initiated in April 2003, is now heading for a logical conclusion of lasting and dignified peace for the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the region," he said. Addressing a series of meetings of the PDP workers from Devsar, Shangus and Wachi constituencies here this morning, Sayeed said although the future is full of great opportunities, so are the challenges. He said the expectations of the people are high and the timing is most appropriate and feasible for the much-needed breakthrough on the Kashmir issue. PDP workers, Sayeed said, have a historical role ahead as the party has in a very short period emerged as the genuine and authentic voice of the State. Being in touch with the ground realities, he said, PDP has articulated the people's aspirations in the most responsible and responsive manner and never compromised on its principles. He said in the common quest for a dignified resolution of the Kashmir issue, PDP workers have prepare them selves for a great responsibility. Sayeed said PDP would, with all sincerity and full force, continue to push its agenda for peaceful and dignified settlement of the Kashmir issue and would in case compromise with its principled agenda. "We have seen enough tragedies and would never allow anybody to compromise the people's honor and dignity for petty political gains," he said and added that the very philosophy behind the constitution of PDP is to rid the people of Jammu & Kashmir of the exploitative and manipulative politics that is largely responsible for the State's present woes. PDP leaders Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Basharat Bukhari and Peerzada Mansoor Hussain were present on the occasion.
