ABVP continues hunger strike in protest against hostel fee hike
5/8/2014 11:02:17 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 8: In protest against the hostel fee hike, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) continued its indefinite hunger strike on second day today. The activists of ABVP are protesting the University of Jammu (JU) authorities' decision to enhance the hostel fee by 85% which they alleged is in violation of statutes.
While speaking on the occasion, Bhavishya Sudan, Vice President ABVP unit of JU said that we totally condemn the statement given by the JU authorities that the fee has been hiked after a gap of one year and that they had also constituted a recommendation committee to look into the matter. But the fact of the matter is that the constitution of recommendation committee by the Vice Chancellor was an eye wash and which had no practical existence. The JU authorities are misleading the media and general public by giving false information which shows their ignorance and irresponsible attitude. He demanded immediate roll back of hike in hostel fee adding that the students are ready to sacrifice their lives and will continue the fast unto death.
