KATHUA, May 10: In brazen violation of the laid down norms, a shopkeeper who is running a shop at Lakhanpur belonging to Lakhanpur Municipal Council (LMC) on rent basis is allegedly carrying out construction work illegally. The shopkeeper identified as Megh Nath who took the shop, located in front of the office of LMC, on rent basis many years ago. As per the rules, no construction can be taken up by the tenant shopkeepers on the shops owned by LMC except carrying out some repairing works, that too with prior permission. But, in this case the shopkeeper Megh Nath has gone beyond the norms by taking up construction work as a RCC slab was erected over the shop's roof without taking any permission from LMC. However, the role of LMC is also under scanner as it has so far preferred to remain silent over the violation and left the erring shopkeeper to carry out illegal construction work in the shop. In response Executive Officer of LMC, Narinder Singh said that the shopkeeper Megh Nath has taken the permission for carrying out some repairing works at the shop from LMC. The issue of putting up a RCC slab over the shop was not into the notice of the LMC and if it is found to be true a strict action will be taken against the shopkeeper, Singh added. |
