| Jagti tenements hold meeting, highlight grievances | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 10: A joint meeting of the Jagti Tenements and Soan Kashmir Front was held at Jagti Township Nagrota wherein problems confronted by the Jagti Migrant Tenements were highlighted. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita - the President of Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front. Shadi Lal Pandita said the continuous 14-16 long hours power curtailment is being imposed in the Camp area with the result the migrant residing there have been suffering a lot preferably the old aged and affirmed people in these hours, not only this but the worst hit sufferers are the school going children. As we have been time and again informing the authorities concerned about the large curtailment of the power supply and the Department is turning to our demands into the deaf ear. The release further added and appealed to the Government to have a sympathetic consideration of our plight and not to play foul with the destitute migrants who have faced tremendous hardships. Pandita said in the meeting that the water being supplied to the water is contaminated which is again a grave risk to the health of the inhabitants. The members with one voice raised the issue of the enhancement of the Cash Assistant from the present structure to Rs.15000 a family, as the existing structure to the Migrants does not suffice the basic day-to-day needs of the life because of the sky high increase in prices of essential commodities. |
