Hanumant over powers Rohmetra in TT match

JAMMU, May 10: The 2nd day of 1st Stag Jammu Open Table Tennis Championship former Senior Player Ajay Sharma (former State Champion for more than a decade and former India ranked player) visited the academy alongwith other senior player Satbir Singh (former India No 1 Juniors) and watched the Cadet Boys Match which was played between Anant Rohmetra and Hanumant Sharma in which Hanumant over powered Anant Rohmetra in a very close contested match score was 11-9,12-10,11-9.
Speaking on the occasion Ajay Sharma was very excited to see such a nicely build academy and gave the best wishes to I.P Singh for successfully conducting the Table Tennis Championship and opening of the Stag Table Tennis Academy which will definitely help to uplift the game of Table Tennis in our state.
The Detailed Results:
Cadet Boys upto 12 Years (Finals): Hanumant beat Anant Rohmetra 11-9, 12-10, 11-9.
Sub Junior Boy's Upto 14 years (semi-finals): Anant Rohmetra beat Akhilesh Khajuria 11-7, 11-8; Hanumant beat Ashwin 11-4, 11-9.
Sub Junior Girl's 14 Years (final): Ashmeet beat Iknoor Kour 11-7, 8-11, 11-8.
Junior Boy's under 17 (semi finals): Ritvik Gupta beat Tanypreet Singh 11-9, 11-8, 11-9; Asad beat Ketan Sharma 11-9, 11-8, 11-7.
Mens Singles and Doubles matches shall play on Sunday from 11 AM onward. All matches are conducted under the supervision of Ramesh Magotra (Sr. Table Tennis Coach) and Menu.


Vikas Gowda wins silver at IAAF Diamond League in Doha

New Delhi, May 10: Ace discus thrower Vikas Gowda won the silver medal in the IAAF Diamond League Series in Doha, on Friday.
According to information reaching here, Gowda hurled the discuss to a distance of 63.23m, finishing behind Poland`s Piotr Malachowski, who took the top spot with a throw of 66.72m.
Estonia`s Gerd Kanter took the bronze medal, with a best throw of 62.90 metres.
The Mysore-born Gowda won the 2010 Asian Games bronze and silver in the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games in the discus event. His personal best throw is 66.90 meters which is also the national record in discus throw, achieved in 2013. Young Tintu Luka clocked 2:00:56 secs to finish a poor sixth in the 800m event which was won by Kenya`s Eunice Jepkoech Sum with a timing of 1:59:33s.


BSF School girls shine in U-14 Judo

JAMMU, May 10: Likewise boys, the female judokas from Border Security Force (BSF) School Paloura made their presence felt in the district level inter-school competitions, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Out of the four weight categories decided, BSF girls bagged two gold and one silver medals. In the medal tally, BSF followed by the Shastri Memorial School winning one gold and one silver medal.
In all, 38 girls took part in under-14 competition contesting in four different weight groups. In other categories, there was less than required number of participants so competition could not be held.
Today's competition officiated by the technical penal comprising Varinder Sharma, Raman Sharma, Jyoti, Taruna, Madan Mohan and Ravinder under the guidance of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Sher Singh.
The Detailed Results:
Under-27 kg: Palak Sharma, BSF School, Ist and Sonia of Shastri Memorial, 2nd. Under-32 kg: Sarita pf Shastri Memorial, Ist and Bhumika Dogra of Dewan Devi School, 2nd. Under-40 kg: Sonalika of BSF School, Ist and Vishal Sharma of St. Xavier School, 2nd. Under-44 kg: Anshika of GD Goenka, Ist and Tanisha Jamwal of BSF School, 2nd.


Manjeet Club bags Volleyball trophy

POONCH, May 10: Experi-enced Manjeet Club clinched the open volleyball tournament trophy overpowering the opponent in an interesting contest at Government Degree College ground, here today. This tournament was organised by J&K Police in collaboration with Shaheed Manjeet Volleyball Club.
The contest for the title was close still Manjeet Club made it straight sets win. Except for the second sets (25-22), Manjeet Club had easy sailing. The score: 25-18, 25-22, 25-17.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Manjeet Club defeated Pinto Club in straight sets while Manjeet Club trounced Kalai Club in similar manners. In all, six teams took part in this two-day competition.
In the final and prize distribution function, SSP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Speaking to the gathering, district police chief said that it was endeavour of the police to involve local youth into constructive activities through the medium of sports.
Championship was organized under the supervision of Mohd Tariq Khan. Prominent among othes present were Makhan Lal Sharma, Pardeep Khanna, Amar Singh Josh and Peer Nisar Hussain..


DBN School organises bunnies camp

JAMMU, May 10: A one day Bunnies Camp under the patronage of Bharat Scouts and Guides was held in OBN (10+2) Vidya Mandir, Amarvilla. The Camp meant for the tiny tots of Nursery, LKG, UKG and 1st involved many co-curricular activities like couple race, Jump and Catch, observation, spot the ball etc. The tiny tots were also involved in many others activities involving their talent and skill. The winners were given awards in four different categories.
The overall best campy were award in all round best bunny, most active bunny, naughty bunny, healthy bunny and the most attractive boy and girl bunny. The trainers from Bharat Scouts and Guides namely: Manjeet , S. Harcharan Singh, Kasturi Lai. State Secretary Bharat Scouts and guides I.D Soni was the Chief Guest and Rajendra Kakkar, Manager Trust was the guest of honor and other present on the occasion were Indu Puri, Principal DBN Mubarak Mandi, Neelam Sabharwal Principal SNS Vidya Mandir members of the staff and students about 150 students from all the three sister institutions being run by Shrimati Dewanini V. Badrinath Educational Trust Participated in the camp. The camp was conducted by the Principal DBN (10+2) Amarvilla Baljeet Singh and scouts master Neeru Speaking on the occasion. The chief guest highlighted the role of Bharat Scouts and Guides with a special reference to DBN Vidya Mandir Contribution in this moment. He hoped that such camps would be organized off and on to make their moment more popular.
The Principal DBN Vidya Mandir Baljeet Singh thanked the dignitaries and assured the school contribution in this moment The guests were presenting mementos.

celebrate Mother's Day

JAMMU, May 10: JK Monte-ssorie Senior Secondary School and Little Millennium Pre-school Tirath Nagar celebrated mother's day at their respective institutions here today.
Innocence, Intellect and creativity were on full display as toddlers of JKMS and little Millennium took stage to celebrate 'Mother's Day'.
On the occasion, a special function was organized to thank the builders of the society "Mother". The children presented a colorful programme wherein they sang songs, cracked jokes and pranks, recited poems and presented scintillating dance performances.
Children of Grade I to Grade III made beautiful cards for their mothers and carried home. In the end, children presented their mothers a Best Mother in the world' cut outs prepared by them.
The Vice Principal of the school, Geeta Dixit explained the vital role of a mother in a child's life.
Later on, Rajni Gupta, Director Academics addressing the children said, "We all are blessed to have mothers who work endlessly and unselfishly." She thanked the staff and the students for their efforts.
Shemrock International School celebrated Mother's Day with great enthusiasm. Kids danced with some bollywood numbers, mothers displayed their talent by singing, dancing, cracking jokes and sharing their valuable experiences etc. Cards and roses were distributed among mother, prepared by kids of Shemrock, to honor mothers. Director of school Bharti Bhardwaj presented gifts to Mothers.
Mothers were over whelmed after seeing their kids performing in various cultural programmes like songs, skits, action rhymes and dances.
Later on Director of school Bharti Bhardwaj also shared her views and presented gifts to Mothers.
Meanwhile, A children of Mother's Pride and Joy Pre School celebrated Mother's Day in honour of motherhood and to thank the mothers, appreciate them and to show them there love and respect.
The children made lovely cards and photo frameson the occasion and also recited poem specially prepared for the occasion.




SOS Hermann Gmeiner School celebrates Investiture ceremony

JAMMU, May 10: Investiture ceremony was held in SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Gole Gujral Talab Tillo Jammu today. On this occasion elected Group Captain, Vice Group Captain and Prefects from each house namely Chenab Jehlum, Ravi and Tawi House took oath.
Dr. Usha Kher Tickoo, DTI Traffic, Jammu was the Chief Guest. The Programme began with the lighting of Ceremonial lamp by the chief guest which was followed by welcome address by R.K. Dhar, Principal of the school. Dr. Usha Kher Tickoo and R.K. Dhar Principal of the school honoured the elected students by presenting them badges.
In her address Dr. Usha Kher Tickoo stressed upon the elected students that they have to shoulder the responsibility for which they have been elected. She emphasized on the importance of moral values and highlighted the importance of responsibilities necessary for strengthening of democratic setup of the country.
Principal, R.K. Dhar administrated the oath .He wished a good session for each house in cultural and other related activities.
Sachit Bhat and Sapna Gupta were elected Head boy and Head girl of the school respectively while as Bavneet Singh and Antra Kaw were elected as Vice Head boy and girl respectively. An impressive cultural programme was also held on the function.
