Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 10: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar today directed Senior Superintendent of police to constitute a special team to execute non-bailable arrest warrants against ASI Abdul Khaliq and SPO Mohammad Akram in connection with the killing of a boy Wamiq Farooq in old city here in 2010. "In order to ensure presence of both the accused persons, once again fresh non-bailable warrants are issued against them and SSP Srinagar is directed to constitute a special team, who would go to Talawara and execute warrant with assistance of Principal of Talwara School, against accused Mohammad Akram and produce him in Court," the CJM said said. Similarly, the court asked the SSP to ascertain particulars of the ASI where he is undergoing treatment out of state and depute special team there to execute warrant against him. "Failure of SSP Srinagar to get warrants executed would be viewed seriously and same may entail legal action also, as case is pending since long without any positive result and cannot be prolonged merely to ensure presence of accused persons who are police officials well within control of police organization," court said. Pertinently, Wamiq Farooq, a class 7th student, was hit by a tear smoke shell at Gani Memorial Stadium in old city in 2010. He died on the spot. The arrest warrants were actually issued in August 2013. However, before they could be executed, the accused filed a revision petition before the Sessions court which stayed it. The revision petition was dismissed on February 26 by the sessions, vacating the stay and directing execution of the warrants by March 3. |
