| Two Pak ultras eliminated, two pushed back | | Alert forces thwart another Pak attempt to sneak in militants on Indian soils | | Mohammad Shafiq Nazki
Poonch, May 10: Two Pakistani terrorists of LeT cadre were liquidated by the alert Indian forces in Poonch sector when a group of four heavily armed ultras tried to sneak into this side of the Indian Territory in the wee hours today. 18 Bihar Regiment posted on the forward area of Poonch district noticed some suspicious movement of the ultras around 2 .p.m in the night and challenged them, who in return opened fire on the Indian soldiers. The exchange of heavy fire continued till 11 a.m. in the morning that left two Pakistani ultras liquidated and other two pushed back into the Pakistan area. Troops also recovered huge cache of arms and explosives from the possession of the slain militants. The recovery included 2-AK rifles, 247-AK rifles rounds, 9-Ak magazines, 1-pistol, 2-IEDs, 4-detonators, 2-bags, medicines, food items etc. The army also recovered the bodies of the slain terrorist, one belonging to LeT outfit while KTTM was embossed on the rifle butt of another ultra as both were reported to be mercenaries. Also the significance relating to the slain ultras reflected through the T-Shirts worn by them that read boldly "Jihad is My Life'. As per the sources, while four ultras tried to sneak into the Indian side and opened fire on the Indian forces , they were given cover fire by six other who stayed back on the Pakistani side. Pakistan army was also to be in close coordination with the ultras to give them the safe passage to enter into the Indian side, sources added. The operation from the Indian side was conducted under the able-supervision of 93 Brigade Commander who brought the entire operation under control by eliminating two terrorists AK Attri, DIG police Rajouri-Poonch range said that as per reports 4 terrorists tried to enter the Indian soil from Poonch district and were challenged by the and out of which 2 were killed by the soldiers. "As the snow is melting, Mughal road will soon be open for vehicular traffic and and Assembly elections are approaching fast, it was expected that Pakistan will try to push maximum number of terrorists. Army and other security forces including police have been maintaining highest alert and any such attempt from across the border will meet the same fate" said DIG, AK Attri. He added that Special Operation Groups (SOG) of police have been deployed on the second line in both the districts to eliminate any intruder if succeed in entering the Indian Territory. He added that the activities of surrender militants and over ground workers (OGWs) are also under surveillance and will not be allowed to help the anti national elements. Lt Col Munish Mehta, Jammu based PRO defence said that at about 2.30 am alert Indian troops noticed a movement of the militants near a forward post in Poonch sector. "The intruders were challenged and they opened indiscriminate firing on our troops which was retaliated and the ensuing firing two militants were gunned down" said PRO. He added that during firing a soldier also received injury on his hand and was evacuated to the hospital. He was identified as a soldier of 2/4 GR. SSP Poonch , Shamsher Hussain, DySP operations Poonch, Javed Ahmed Naz, SHO city police station Inspector Sanjeev Slathia maintained a close coordination with the Indian forces in providing the logistic support in liquidating the ultras . Sources added that troops of 18 Bihar regiment in Bagliyargala area were expecting such attempt for the last few weeks and were on alert and before the militant could cause damage to post or any soldier they were eliminated. |
