People across state celebrate BJP's victory, distribute sweets

JAMMU, May 17: After a massive victory by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the elections to the 16th Lok Sabha , the people across the state celebrated the success of the saffron party alongside people of the country with zeal and zest.
As soon as it became a certainty that the BJP has got clear majority on its own and Narendra Modi set to be the next Prime Minister (PM), almost all the sweet shops across Jammu city were out of stock. People in huge numbers cameout of their houses in the city and straight away drew and reached the sweet shops for buying 'Laddoos' and other sweets. They were congratulating each other and everyone seen on roads or outsides their houses. Long queues were witnessed outside sweet shops, which got out of stock on Friday evening and few people had to go back empty hands. Pradhan Sweet Shop in New Plot area of Jammu city was one of the many shops which got out of stock on Friday. "When I went to Pradhan Sweet Shop, which is famous in New Plot area, I found the shop almost empty. I couldn't get my desired sweets and had to go back empty hands," said Amit Kumar, a resident of Janipur. Even people in Gandhi Nagar area were seen buying sweets for their families to celebrate the victory of Narendra Modi. "I feel that the good days are not far away. People have given the decisive mandate to BJP and now it is the time to celebrate for the welfare of whole country. I expect corruption free country and progress will be seen in coming days," said Vishal Kumar, a resident of Nai Basti. Many people have installed stalls on road to congratulate people and offer them sweets (Halwa) and other things. Even people visiting sweet shops were congratulating shop owners, whether they know each other or not for the huge victory of Modi.
To celebrate the landslide victory of Narendra Modi in 16th Lok Sabha elections, a tea seller Suresh Kumar Chaurasia has placed his tea stall for two days to offer tea free of cost to the people in industrial area at Kathua today.
While speaking to the media, Chaurasia congratulated Modi for his historic victory, and said that the heat of the election is over and the people have given their verdict with an aim to take India forward to fulfill the dreams of India's 1.2 billion people. Chaurasia said that Modi will form a stable and strong government and the miseries of poor people would come to an end under the Modi government. The BJP workers in Srinagar on Saturday celebrated their party's win in Lok Sabha election by playing out drums and chanting slogans in favor of their party winning three seats in Jammu and Kashmir and crossing 272 mark in Indian mainland since 1982. A handful of party workers made their presence felt in Srinagar's Lal Chowk, who later dispersed off peacefully. Out of six Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP took three seats home: Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh.
