| Demanding reservation for BPL, middle class of upper castes NFE holds protest | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 17: Thousands of workers of National Front for Equality with their State President Pawan Chib and Provincial President Ranjit Singh protested outside the press club and blocked the main Tawi Bridge for hours. National Front for Equality has been demanding for setting up a commission for "Reservation for BPL and middle class of upper castes". Pawan said that reservation policy was started for only 10 years and after that it was to be abolished after that but even after 67 years of Independence the reservation policy stands where it was 67 years ago. "Even the seats which are reserved were to be deserved in 2008 but the leaders of the state didn't spoke once in the assembly or outside even for once and only leaders of Jammu can explain why they didn't spoke on the issue at that time. The people of the upper castes have even been cheated by their Sabhas as even they have not taken up the issues of people Pawan chib has been campaigning for the cause for last one year and the whole border belt and other rural areas of the Jammu belt has extended support for the moment", he said, adding that the people of upper caste are fed up with reservation policy and are at the brink of losing their identity because of it and time is not far away when Rajputs and Brahmins will feel as aliens in their country. The people of upper castes in the past were known as landlords but now majority of the population is working as labourers. |
