Chopra Murder Case Nearing Conclusion: Police May ArrestPolitician, Businessmen

Jammu, April 18,
Special Investigating team probing sensational murder mystery of city businessmen RB Chopra and four others is nearing conclusion following vital leads in the case.
According to highly placed official sources in the state police, SIT had zeroed in on politician and a local businessmen believed to be actively involved in the planning and later executing the murder of RB Chopra by hiring professional killers.
According to sources, a hefty amount of Rs 10 lakhs was paid to hired killers by the same set of people. Sources said, though no arrest has been made in the case but he added the next one week is crucial as a politician and a business involved in the case would be put behind the bars to solve the mystery.
Earlier investigations in the case were hampered on various counts from day one.
First the state government handed the inquiry to the CBI but later as it refused to take up the probe red faced state government decided to set up a SIT roping in professional brains in the police to handle the probe to salvage their image as it had already received a dent owing to inordinate delay. Sons of RB Chopra Punnet and Rohit Chopra by raising fingers at the working of the state police have been accusing them of adopting go slow approach in solving the case and not punishing the guilty responsible for the heinous crime. They have even gone to the extent of leveling serious charges against the state police for ignoring their security concerns and sitting idle when it came to cracking the case.
It may be mentioned that the murder of three members of Chopra family and their domestic servant and car driver had rocked posh Trikuta Nagar colony on September 18, 2006 .The bodies of all five members were found in a pool of blood inside their house as killers hacked them to death in cold blood.
