| Vigilance wing registers 218 per cent increase in revenue | | | Jammu April 18 The Vigilance and Inspections Wing of the Commercial Sales Taxes has registered 218 per cent increase in its revenue during the last fiscal year. It has realized revenue of Rs.132.65 lakh during the last fiscal as compared to Rs.41.78 lakhs in 2005-06 showing an increase of nearly Rs.91 lakhs. The wing has realized Rs.31.65 lakh as penalty, Rs.21 lakh as security and Es.80.94 lakh as entry tax during the last fiscal. Due to the constant and increased vigil, en-route checking and inspections the wing has been able to make corresponding increase of 113.56 per cent in pentalty, 114.08 per cent in security and 360.14 per cent in entry tax as compared to the amount collected during 2005.06.The number of GRs referred to the wing stood at 15394 during last year against 19354 during 2005-06. The last year’s overall revenue realized has been Rs.230 lakh as compared to Rs.148.37 lakh during 2005-06 showing an increase of 55 per cent. This spectacular increase has been made possible due to the coordinated efforts put in by the wing, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes (V&I) claimed in a handout issued here today.
