| Several political parties express shock over tragic road accident | | |
Jammu April 18 Several political parties have expressed shock and grief over the tragic road accident at Choon in Poonch district in which 14 people lost their lives and over 25 others sustained injures, some of them seriously. In a statement the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the party President, Ms Mehbooba Mufti have expressed shock and grief over the loss of precious lives in a tragic road mishap in Poonch yesterday. The PDP leaders while expressing heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families have prayed for early recovery of the injured and have asked the administration to ensure adequate medicare facilities for the injured. Sayeed and Mehbooba while expressing grave concern over the recurrence of such tragic mishaps, especially in the hilly districts of Poonch, Rajouri and Doda, have called for launching a massive road improvement program in these districts to avoid such disasters, the statement added. Senior PDP leaders Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Tariq Hameed Karra have also expressed grief over the tragic mishap. In a joint statement several National Conference leaders including Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President, G M Jan, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, Javeed Rana, Ch.Bashir Ahmed Naz, legislators and Qazi Mohammed Syed Beig district president Poonch have expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic road mishap and expressed their sympathies will be bereaved families .These leaders have urged the government to provide necessary relief to the next of kith and kin of the bereaved family besides free medical treatment to the injured. The NC leaders also demanded a high level inquiry in this tragic road accident and strict action against the erring traffic police personnel. Balraj Puri, Convenor, PUCL J&K, has also expressed his deep shock over the bus tragedy in Poonch.. While conveying his condolences to the aggrieved families, he held government responsible for lax traffic checks and bad conditions of the roads which led to repeated bus accident in this strategically important area. He strongly urged the government to give top priority to improve road connectivity in the hilly areas.
