West Pak Refugees threated to cross border on foot to highlight their problems
4/19/2007 11:40:33 PM
Jammu, April 19
In order to highlight grim realities faced by thousands of refugees from west Pakistan since independence President of the Refugee’s United Front Rajiv Chuni on Thursday said that they are ready to return back to their homes by crossing the Suchetgarh-Sialkote border on the eve of third round table conference in New Delhi on April 24.
Addressing a joint press conference here today along with Labha Ram Gandhi who is heading west Pakistani Refugees Action committee and SR Nagial at present heading Chhamb displaced persons Association camp and non-camp, Rajiv Chuni said that government of India has been adopting different yardsticks for measuring problems faced by Kasmiris and Jammuites and said we have lost faith in the lip service of successive governments and can no longer wait for greener pastures. He said till date about 3000 refugees have given their consent to cross the border on April 24 to highlight their problems and no force on this earth can stop them from going back to their homes.
Launching a scathing attack on the congress leadership,Chuni said that we are self possessed that congress is the mother of present J&K dispute. Had Pandit Nehru not placed Sheikh Mohd Abdullah as emergency administrator in the state by exiling Maharaja there would have been no problem in the Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
There upon subsequent congress government furthers committed blunder and increased our problems manifold. Referring to the ongoing dialogue process Chuni said that the first two round table conferences have already ended up in total fiasco and the date for third conference has been announced but here again no breakthrough was expected. He said chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad may have been claiming that every political party, ethnic and opinion group would be given platform to deliberate upon their grievances but the facts have been skillfully concealed. He said on the one hand the government of India has included the representatives of valley migrants in all the working groups and in the bygone two round table conferences but on the other hand the government did not gave representation to the POK, West Pak and chhamb refugees on the pretext that political leasers will represent. We have fair representation to highlight our agenda at appropriate forum but acarce opportunites are cming our way, leaders f the west Pak refugees said
