Tara Chand inspects developmental works in Khour

Jammu, April 19
Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand has directed the officers of various departments to speed up the pace of developmental works so that the on-going projects are completed within the stipulated time frame.
Mr. Tara Chand said this while addressing a large gathering of people at village Nikkian in Khour Block followed by inspection of various developmental works in the area today.
Speaker expressed satisfaction on last year’s progress in different sectors and asked the officers to redouble their efforts to accomplish the goals well in time during this year as well. Insisting on maximum participation of locals in implementation of various schemes, he appealed the people to personally monitor the works so that the quality of works is ensured. “Government’s duty is to arrange funds and it is the people who have to supervise each and every work and ensure that money is spent properly”, Mr. Tara Chand asserted. While reiterating the resolve of government to provide all basic amenities to people, he said that the people are the best judges and they can distinguished the situation on ground and see the difference between the period of current and previous regimes. He said that massive development has taken place in all the sectors and government has been making constant efforts to further improve the basic infrastructure for upliftment of socio-economic status of weaker and socially backward sections.
Mr. Tara Chand lauded the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for his courageous and bold steps like implementation of Wazir Commission Report, passing of Roshni Bill, creation of Finance Commission and so on. He said that these decisions would prove hallmark in the history of Jammu and Kashmir taken by any Chief Minister who has fulfilled the long cherished demands of all regions. He congratulated him for these historic decisions and said that people are overwhelmed with joy and satisfaction and would remember these revolutionary steps for over, he added.
To improve the rural health mission, Mr. Tara Chand apprised the gathering that the government has already sanctioned a sub-district Hospital for Khour block which was a long pending demand of the people of this border town. He said that land has been identified and work would start soon.
Various deputations called on him and put forth demands pertaining to their areas, chairman of Gram Vikas Sangh and NGO, Mr. O. P. Gupta also called on the speaker and apprised him about the activities of the organization. He said that the organization has been tirelessly working for the upliftment of downtrodden section of society and has launched various programmes, which include training in different trades to the poor and destitute and other activities that are useful for the rural people. He pleaded that the organization can play a stronger role, if it is involved in implementation of Watershed project, which is being launched in Khour block soon.
Speaker gave patient hearing to all deputationists and assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled on merit.
Mr. Suram Singh, Mr. Harnam Dass and other local leaders also addressed the gathering.
