| SVO produces challan against Kargil Forest Officials | | |

State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today produced Challan in case FIR No 29/2000-VOK against the officials of Kargil Forest Division in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar. The accused persons were involved in the misappropriation of huge money on the account of executing afforestation and walling.
According to SVO hand out, the challan was produced against Ghulam Abbass S/o Mohammad Musa R/o Darkit Kargil, then Range Officer Drass (retired) Ghulam Abbass S/o Mohammad Ismail R/o Gongma Kargil, then Forester Block Drass Tsering Wangdus S/o Chering Wamngali R/o Tungri Zanaskar, and then Range Officer Zanaskar (retired) Rigzin Tanter S/o Sonum Tushi R/o Shilla Zanaskar, then Forester Zanaskar. Kachoo Ali Raza Khan S/o Isfandyar Khan R/o Sanjak Kargil, then Range Officer Kargil (retired) Syed Nizamudin S/o Syed Mohammad R/o Akchamal Kargil, then Forester Sankoo Kargil. Bashir Ahmad S/o Abdul Gaffer R/o Gandiyal Drass, then Forester Shargole. Ghulam Hassan S/o Ghulam R/o Silmoo Kargil, then Forester Shaker-Chiktan Kargil (retired) Mohammad Habib S/o Abdul Rehman R/o Murad Bagh, then Range Officer, Headquarters Kargil.
The accused persons have misappropriated an amount of Rs. 6,90,816 on account of executing works including plantation and dry walling of the areas falling within the Forest Division Kargil under Employment Assurance Scheme during the year 1999-2000. At many places the works were either not executed at all or were not executed as per specification for which money was drawn from the Govt. Treasury. All the nine accused were present at the time of presentation of challan.
