| Social reengineering: BSP Doors open for Brahmins, upper castes | | Party to win 20 seats in next elections, says Satpal | | Abhishek Jammu, Apr 19 While the Bahujan Samajwadi Party is gunning for victory in Uttar Pradesh owing to Mayawati’s slogan of Sarvsamaj , the J&K unit of the party taking lead from the social re-engineering today said that people from all castes including the Brahmins are welcome in it’s fold provided they shed the Manuwadi ideology. BSP stands for a casteless society and those, who believe in ending the oppression of the masses are always welcome in the party. This was stated today by BSP state coordinator and member of BSP national executive Satpal. Admitting that the social reengineering being done by party supremo Mayawati could lead to success at the hustings, he asserted that BSP will cross the tally of 20 in next elections. In an informal chat with Early Times, the Bahujan leader said that party is working very hard to connect with the masses and time will tell that party is a force to reckon with Jammu Kashmir. When asked how will the they will reconcile with upper caste members, having staunch anti-Brahmanical credentials, Satpal said that only those, who realize that caste is an inhibiting factor in the development of the Indian society and economy are welcome in BSP. “Only those people, who have faith in the values of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and can uphold the same are welcome in the party fold”, he added. Taking strong objection to SRO 294 and non-issuance of caste certificate to OBCs in the state, the BSP leader said that government will forced to rectify this mistake and if this is not done than the party would launch an agitation in this regard. This matter has been taken up at the highest level and the Governor as well as the president of India and Prime Minister has been given memorandums in this regard, said Satpal, adding that assurances have been given at the highest quarters that this matter will sorted out amicably. The state government, he said, formulated a Select Committee of bureaucrats as well as some ministers, only after BSP put pressure on this issue. Asserting that some Scheduled caste leaders and bureaucrats were serving the interests of those oppressing the SCs/STs and OBCs, Satpal said that they were the products of Poona pact and they could not speak against their political masters. “Yeh log dagabaz hain aur qaum ke nam par rotian sek rahe hain”, quipped Satpal, adding that anyone, who has left the party to enjoy greener pastures would be given re-entry. Criticizing the coalition government for abetting militancy in the state, the BSP state president, Yash Paul Bhagat, said that the demands for demilitarization and reduction of security forces was a ruse to abet militancy in the state.
