JAMMU, APRIL 19 Justice Nisar Ahmed Kakru, Chief Justice (Acting), of J&K High Court, administered oath of office to Justice Virender Singh here today, who was transferred from Punjab & Haryana High Court. Earlier, Registrar General Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar of J&K High Court read out the notification issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India and also read the letter of authorization issued by the Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha, authorizing Chief Justice (Acting) to administer oath of office to Justice Virender Singh. The 52 year old Justice Virender Singh after completion graduation from Government College, Rohtak joined LLB J.V.Jain College, Saharapur (Uttar Pradesh), and joined the legal profession in June, 1978, initially practiced at Rohtak for a decade in different fields of law, mainly on criminal side, besides dealing with the cases under the Motor Vehicles Act and Hindu Marriage Act. Thereafter, he shifted to Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh in 1988. Justice Singh served for two tenures as Deputy Advocate General, Haryana, from May 1995 to May 1996 and July 1996 to January 1999 and was elevated as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court on July 2, 2002. At the oath taking ceremony Justice Nirmal Singh, Justice YP Nargotra, Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain, Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir, Justice BA Kirmani and Justice JP Singh were present. Besides, Registrar General, Registrar Judicial Suresh Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice MK Hanjura, Registrar Rules JB Singh, Deputy Registrar Judicial VK Chaterjee, Advocate General AH Naik, President Bar Association VR Wazir number of Advocates, Presiding Officers of Subordinate Courts were also present. With the transfer of Justice Virender Singh, the strength of State High Court again gone up to eight against the sanctioned strength of 14 judges
