CM inspects development projects in Jammu

JAMMU, APRIL 20
– Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad took stock of pace of progress on various on-going development projects during his 3-hour tour of Jammu city and its peripheral areas here this morning.
Azad also took stock of progress on construction of additional pediatrics block of SMGS hospital having 200-bed capacity including 30 beds for pediatrics surgery.
Chief Minister asked concerned executing agency to complete the project expeditiously by constructing it in double and triple-shifts. He said quality parameters of construction should be ensured. He also gave directions for making the project more integrated with the existing hospital complex for better land use.
During his visit to Government Indira Gandhi Dental College, Mr. Azad inspected construction work of academic block and boys and girls hostels coming up at a cost of Rs. 14.60 crore.
Chief Minister impressed for completing the project within shortest possible time and asked for proper landscaping, plantation and laying green patches so that entire complex gives an aesthetic look.
He also took stock of pace of progress on construction of additional block of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and called for executing the work in double-shift. The project is likely to be completed by the end of this year.
Chief Minister also inspected the site behind civil secretariat and discussed proposed site plan for construction of an additional block of the secretariat. It was informed that the multi-storeyed complex is proposed to have accommodation for 26 departments with provision for auditorium, conference halls and parking facilities for 600 vehicles.
During his visit to Tawi bank near Exhibition Ground, Mr. Azad asked the concerned authorities for formulating a plan for beautification of right front of the river and developing it as an added tourist attraction with provision of parks, etc.
He visited Government Rosin and Turpentine Factory at Miransahib and interacted with the management and workers.
Chief Minister also inspected work on widening of R. S. Pura road besides visiting Indira Nagar and Kharian localities near Balole nallah and interacted with locals who apprised him of their development needs.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Secretary Health and Medical Education Mr. K. B. Jandial, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Mr. M. M. Sharma, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control Jammu Mr. V. K. Abrol, Executive Director JKPCC Mr. Dilip Thusoo, Principal Government Medical College Jammu Dr. Mumtaz Goni and other senior officers and engineers of various engineering disciplines accompanied Chief Minister during the visit.
