Jammu, June 6: Workers of PHE Mechanical South Division Jammu under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association today staged a protest demonstration in favour of their genuine demands at Division office Gandhi Nagar Jammu. The protest led by State President INTUC Shiv Kumar Sharma, who is also the provincial president of the Association. Addressing the gathering, Shiv Kumar Sharma hailed the decision of the state government to enhance the retirement age of State government employees by two years and the qualifying age for job aspirants by three years. Congratulating the employees, he said that by conceding their long pending demands, the coalition government has further proven its commitment and concern for the well-being of the employees fraternity of the state. He said the decision enhancing qualifying age for job seekers is a great step to assurance justice 'to the youth of the state. He also appreciated another move of the government to regularize daily wagers and need base employees of the state. Meanwhile, Sharma applauded the devotion of the PHE daily wagers who are working hard in the department without having been paid their wages for many months. They are braving inflation which is at peak. He strongly demanded to release their pending wages which is for two years. He highlighted their demands included release of pending wages of daily wagers, special benefit to ITI trained (Skilled) workers, convene DPC meeting of all caders, repairs of damaged property of department, release of 10% DA due since January 2014, enhancement of minimum wages limit and enhancement in Medical Allowances to Rs. 1,000. |
