| JKSACS organizes seminar cum poster making competition | | | | Srinagar, June 6 : In connection with 'World Blood Donor Day' which is held on June 14 every year, Jammu and Kashmir State AIDS Prevention and Control Society (JKSACS) in collaboration with Government College of Education today organized a seminar and a poster making Competition in the premises of the college on the theme "Safe Blood for Saving Mothers". The programme was organized as a joint activity of the NSS wing and the Red Ribbon Club of the college. These clubs have been specially created in various educational institutes of the state by JKSACS in order to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and related issues among the student community. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the college Dr. Parveen Pandit along with the two programme officers Muhammad Ayoub and Prof. Nuzhat Nasreen of the college. Speaking on the occasion the principal of the college welcomed all the participants and highlighted the need for involving the student community in such activities for creating awareness in the society especially about the need for voluntary blood donation. The principal of the college appreciated missionary sprit of the students who offered to donate the blood for saving precious human lives. The seminar was also addressed by the special guest Dr. Abdul Majeed from the Department of Community Medicines SKIMS Srinagar. In his address to the volunteers he explained the importance of voluntary blood donation and its benefits for the donors as well as the needy. He also explained in detail that how the donated blood is used for saving the lives of the people. |
