DISPLACED KPs PERFORM MAHA SHRAADH, OBSERVE TWO MINUTES SILENCE

Leaders of displaced Kashmiri pandits on Sunday organised Maha shraadh
to pay homage to over 30,000 kashmir pandits,
security personnel and others killed in militancy
related violence in jammu and kashmir during the last 17 years.
The ceremony was perfomred on the banks of river
Chenab in Akhnoor after the organisers Panun Kashmir
decided to relocate the main venue from
Martand(Mattan) in Kashmir to Akhnoor in the wake of
threats
from militant groups.Jyotshi Omkar Nath Shastri and Jyotshi DrManmohan Shastri and others performed the ritual.

Large number of Kashmir pandits thronged the venue
and recited vedic mantras and offered
prayers.
They were lead by prominent community leaders
and religious saints.

Even continuous rain failed to deter the spirit of Kashmiri
pandits as the ceremony lasted for about 2 hours.

Earlier the members of the community representing families from various migrant camps were
lead by saints of the community SwamiKumarji Maharaj,
Jyotshi Omkar Nath shastri,Jyotshi DrManmohan Shastri and others and arrived in Akhnoor amidst warm welcome by local residents.
Convenor of the Panun Kashmir DrAgnishekhar was also present on the occasion besides Dr KL choudhary and Pt Moti Koul.

The members of the community also observed two
minutes silence on the occasion.Paying homage to
over 30,000 martyrs DrAgnishekahar said that Panun Kashmir
had decided to organise maha shraadh ceremony to pay
homage to all those killed during militancy violence in
Jammu and Kashmir.He said we wanted to organise the
ceremony in Martand but situation doesnot warranted the same
and they had to relocate the venue.

Pt Triloki Nath who accompnaied his wife Sharda Rani
, an elderly couple from Anantnag district were joined by several
others on the banks of river chenab as the couple
paid flower tribute to the martyrs at the end of the ceremony.
