| Sonia Gandhi for her 'son rise' | | Prime Minister is displeased with several Ministers | | From B L KAK NEW DELHI, June 24: Most of the Congress Ministers at the Centre do not appear keen on allowing their Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, work freely. Worse still, 'Gentleman' Prime Minister continues to be unable to control the Congress Ministers. Highly efficient Manmohan Singh is. But he is far from effective. This is merely because of two factors. One, he has not so far got rid of the label--'Made by Sonia Gandhi'! Two, arrogant Congress Ministers enjoy freedom because Sonia Gandhi does not deem it necessary--for reasons best known to her--to tame the Ministers who are unwilling to treat their Prime Minister as all-important and all-powerful personality. Prime Minister has reasons to be annoyed with some Congress Ministers. Their fault: They ignore the Prime Minister while publicly airing their differences on crucial issues. What is disturbing is the tacit support these Ministers get from several party leaders. Equally disturbing is Sonia Gandhi's silence, which seems to be a source of encouragement for a group of Congressmen to target the Prime Minister. Congress Ministers are more loyal to Sonia than to Manmohan Singh. And the Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Minister, Arjun Singh, according to his opponents within the Congress, is eyeing the top post by positioning himself as the new voice for the backwards in the Manmohan Singh government. More importantly, influential loyalists of the Sonia Gandhi family have, on the other hand, joined hands to ensure hassle-free induction of Rahul Gandhi into the Union Council of Ministers. Having found the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, in favour of her 'son rise', these loyalists, who include several senior Congress leaders and MPs, have, in recent days, become quite active in creating conditons conducive to Rahul Gandhi's entry into the Manmohan Singh Ministry. This apart, the 'Group of Four', considered to be very close to Sonia Gandhi, is also reportedly engaged in the task of getting Rahul Gandhi into the Congress-led coaliton Government as a Minister of State. The 'Group of Four' consits of Shivraj Patil, Pranab Mukherjee, Ambika Soni and Ahmed Patel. Prime Minister himself is for 'young blood' in his Ministry. Rahul is short and crisp in his speech. Unlike his Italian-born mother who labours to speak Hindi, Rahul breaks into fluent Hindi, although it is a common knowledge that he feels more at home in English. After establishing emotional chords with the people who have remained loyal to the Gandhi family for almost five decades, he turns to his favourite topic of bashing the Samajwadi Party Government in Uttar Pradesh, crediting the Congress-led coalition Government at the Centre for whatever little development that has taken place in the area and blaming the State Government for whatever has not been done. Being the son of 'super' woman, he (Rahul) often receives a red-carpet treatment from most of the Congress Ministers in the present Government at the Centre. The situation in relation to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, has been found different altogether. If reports doing the rounds were to be believed, the Prime Minister has not fully succeeded in making all the Congress Ministers obey him. In plain language, Manmohan Singh finds it difficult to control the Congress Ministers.
