BJP accuses govt of discrimination

BJP, Beopar Cell held a meeting of prominent traders and industrialists of Jammu to dwell upon and highlight the problems being faced by the traders and industrialists of Jammu region.
State President, Ashok Khajuria, who was chief guest on the occasion, strongly criticized the successive state governments for discriminating with the traders and industrialists of Jammu region. He said the maximum revenue is generated from Jammu region through sales Tax, properly Tax, Income tax, Trade Tax, Excise Duty, Toll Tax and Entertainment Tax but as a reward it is being oppressed and harassed by both the central as well as state governments.
He said, government machinery does not collect any tax or revenue from the valley. The traders of Jammu region always harassed on one pretext or the other. Even the idols of Hindu delties brought into the state for installation in temple in Jammu are not spared from taxing, he said.
Khajuria, further said that the common masses here are made to suffer due to unscheduled cuts despite the fact that they are paying their electricity dues regularly while there are over seven lakh unmetered connections in valley which are getting regular supply of electricity resulting in huge losses of revenue and electricity.
He asked the consumers of Jammu region to oppose the move of the government to enhance the power tariff and urged them to deposit their dues only on the rates which existed on March 31st this year. He warned both state as well as central governments to desist from oppressing and harassing the Jammu traders and industrialists otherwise.
Beopar Cell President, Kulbhushan Mohtra, on this occasion, narrated a number of problems being faced by the traders and industrialists of Jammu region. He said the goods of traders are unnecessarily stopped at Lakhan Pur for days together, as a result of which they are made to suffer. He demanded an immediate look into their problems. Krishan Kotwal, yudhvir sethi, Shiv Kumar Gupta, kavinder Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Bansi Lal Bharti, Ashwani Sharma, Harinder Gupta, Parshottam Gupta, Ghulshan Mahajan, Naginder Jain, Deepak Aggarwal, Pawan Kumar, Navneesh Gupta, Surinder Jandial,Sham Lal, Indu Bhushan Sharma, Vikram randhawa, Ramesh Sharma, Chander Mohan Gupta, Baldev Singh, Narsingh Das, Dinesh Gupta, Sheetal Handoo, Munish Sharma, Anil Masoom, Parshant Puri and Anil kumar were prominent among others who were present in the meeting and expressed their views.
