Teachers protest in Kishtwar, DPO gharoad

Kishtwar, April 20 (NAK): District Planning Officer of education department was today gharoad by large number of teachers and low paid employees, who were protesting against the detachment orders of teachers in Kishtwar district.

A strong protest demonstration was held outside the office of DC Kishtwar by the teachers and low paid employees in protest against the order of Chief Education Officer Doda, wherein he has ordered all the teachers attached in the district to join back at their original place of posting with immediate affect.

The protest demonstration continued for more than three hours forcing the DC to call an emergent meeting of ZEOs and senior officers from education department. The matter was reportedly discussed in detail and the employees were assured that the genuine cases would be taken up with the CEO.

The protesting employees alleged that some of the teachers were attached on medical or militancy ground but the ZEO was not giving any ear to their genuine problems.

It was learnt that soon after the meeting was over at DC office, DPO Jatinder Thermat was gharoad and detained in a room for more than an hour at the office of ZEO Kishtwar.

The DPO later told police that he was manhandled by a contractor who was among accompanying the protesting employees.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Shahid Anayatullah told News Agency of Kashmir that he has taken very strong note of the incident and police has been directed to register a case and arrest the culprit.

CEO Doda claimed that the detachment orders were issued as number of teachers in the school situated in the town had gone considerably high. “We have decided to abolish this system of attachment”, he added. (NAK)
