| Suspected poacher arrested in Rajasthan | | | 21 Apr, 2007 KOTA: A suspected poacher and smuggler has been arrested in Bundi district of Rajasthan and the skin of a tiger cub which he was allegedly trying to sell for Rs 70,000 seized from him.
Sleuths arrested Saleem, wanted in several cases of trade in skins of the endangered big cat, at Keshorapatan area of the district, about 100 km from Kota on Friday night after he was lured by a decoy interested in buying animal pelts, forest officials said on Saturday.
They said the decoy struck a deal of Rs 70,000 for a pelt and Saleem was arrested on the spot when he came to deliver it.
The skin of a tiger cub, said to be around two-and-a-half months old was seized from Saleem, who is being interrogated.
A case under the Wildlife (Protection) Act has been registered against him. |
